Mop the floor at least once a week with a ceramic tile cleaner, then rinse with clear water. Dry the tile with a towel immediately after mopping. Keep a squeegee in the bathroom for wiping down tub and shower walls after each use. Alternatively, wipe the moisture from the walls with a towel. Wiping down the walls prevents both hard water stains and soap scum buildup.
Place rugs or mats on the tile in areas where water splashing occurs, such as near sinks or tubs. Rugs at entryways prevent tracked in water from drying on the floor and further prevent water marks. Wipe up water spills immediately with a soft towel. Hard water marks can develop if the water air dries on the tile surface.
